Katy and Michelle founded Ruby Direct to provide an alternative to a traditional cremation with no call centres or gimmicks, just a discrete professional service delivered by an award-winning team. Ruby Funerals, Katy and Michelle’s Funeral Home company, based in Gosport and Lee-on-Solent, were one of the first funeral companies in their local areas to offer this service.

There is no legal requirement stating that funerals must be arranged by Funeral Directors. Therefore, many online direct cremation providers are not run by Funeral Directors, the staff you will have contact will be trained to do their job, however, most will not have experience of working in a funeral home. Currently, there is no statutory code of conduct that Funeral Directors are required to follow in the UK. This makes it very difficult to know whether you are choosing a trusted provider who will take the best care of your loved one.

Ruby Direct are proud to be members of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), alongside more than 4,100 UK funeral homes. The NAFD sets high standards for its members. NAFD member firms must abide by the Funeral Director Code, a comprehensive code of practice, developed on consultation with the wider sector and consumer organisations. Funeral home members are regularly inspected by the Independent Funeral Standards Organisation and are offered guidance and support in reaching the highest standards.
